High Blood Pressure Causes

One of the most dangerous things about high blood pressure, or hypertension, is that there are often few or no. Often, it is difficult to know that you have it, if not impossible, unless you make regular routine visits to the doctor. These are important, because hypertension can lead to all types of terrible complications. It can worsen diabetes sometimes, but even more commonly, can put you at risk of heart disease or stroke. My grandfather was in denial about his high blood pressure for years before it finally caught up to him, causing him a heart attack. This is why you need to get your medical checkup. Because, even though it is dangerous, high blood pressure causes are easily treated.

One of the most common of high blood pressure causes is excessive salt consumption. According to many experts, taking in too much salt is common among Americans. It is estimated that we consume 10 to 15 times more salt than we need. Although this is only one of the high blood pressure causes for certain salt sensitive people, it can't hurt to decrease your salt consumption, and may help prevent your risk of heart attack.

The Ionic Breeze Purifier

If you watch TV with any regularity, you’ve probably seen a number of commercials featuring the ionic breeze purifier lately. From the way they advertise the thing, they make it sound like it’ll solve all your problems and help you live forever. What does the ionic breeze purifier even do anyway, and is it at all worth the hefty price tag?

Personally, I decided that it was worth a shot. As a long time sufferer of allergies, I’ll do just about anything to reduce my symptoms come pollen season. One of the things they focus their marketing on with the ionic breeze purifier is as a way to help fight off allergies. After owning one now for almost six months I have to say I have noticed a marked reduction in allergy symptoms. I’ve had fewer sinus headaches, less sneezing, sniffling and dizziness than before. My ionic breeze purifier certainly hasn’t cured my allergies, like some of their commercials suggest, but it has definitely helped.

Just the reduced allergies made the ionic breeze purifier worth the price for me, but it’s also good for avoiding colds and for generally keeping the air I breath clean. The ionic breeze purifier kills microorganisms in the air, and oxidizes harmful contaminants that are present in all buildings. It does this by utilizing the substance ‘ozone’ which oxidizes pollutants in the air.

The ionic breeze purifier is very quiet, and doesn’t draw a lot of power. This is good because you’re supposed to leave it on all the time. It only draws about 6 Watts, which has a barely noticeable effect on my power bill, and its so silent that I usually forget that I have it. Actually, I wasn’t even sure that it was working right after I first set it up, but soon noticed the reduced odors in the room and realized it was doing its job.

Antioxidant Comparison

The antioxidant comparison study represents the most comprehensive investigation to date of the quantity and quality of antioxidants in fruits. This is what lead researcher Joe Vinson, Ph.D., a chemist with the University of Scranton in Scranton, Penn., said.

In the antioxidant comparison study, Vinson picked 19 fruits that are commonly consumed in the American diet. For the purposes of antioxidant comparison, he then measured the total phenol content in each fruit and came up with cranberries as having the highest phenol content gram for gram. On the basis of serving size, cranberries also ranked first in the antioxidant comparison chart.

The Health Benefits of Green Tea

The rich presence of catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the reason why green tea has so much health benefits. A powerful antioxidant, EGCG can not only inhibit the growth of cancer cells but can also destroy them without harming healthy cells.

The University of Purdue has also concluded a research on how a certain compound present in green tea can stop cancer cells from growing. Still another health benefit of green tea is its ability to lower down cholesterol levels and improve the ratio between good (HDL) cholesterol and bad (LDL) cholesterol.

Cures For High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure refers to a high level of tension in your arteries due to blood flow, and is often called ‘hypertension’. Prolonged hypertension greatly increases your chances developing heart diseases, and having heart attacks or strokes, so it is critically important to take what steps you can to find some treatments and cures for high blood pressure that work for you.

All doctors will tell you that exercising and keeping an active life style is a great place to effectively reduce any hypertension you are having. Even mild exercise done frequently, such as a short walk everyday, has been proven to be an effective cure for high blood pressure. The greatest cause of high blood pressure is inactivity, and due to our increasingly sedentary lifestyles hypertension is steadily on the rise.

Another thing doctors will tell you is to maintain a healthy weight. Obesity forces your heart to work much harder than it should in order to get blood to reach all the places it needs to go, which raises your blood pressure considerably. Just keeping a healthy weight can be a cure for high blood pressure for many people. This is of course easier said than done if you are overweight. Ideally, by boosting your activity levels as discussed above, you’ll also be losing weight. So once again, exercise, and more exercise!

What Is Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative disease that is characterized by the progressive loss of brain function. The areas of the brain targeted first by the disease are associated with memory, so the first observable symptoms are usually mild forms of amnesia. Alzheimer’s is the most common form of the more general condition known as dementia. Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe any progressive damage to the areas of the brain that control memory or any other cognitive function.

The earliest stages of Alzheimer’s all involve symptoms associated with memory loss. Affected individuals may have a hard time remembering what day or month it is. They may find themselves losing items more frequently than normal, forgetting recent events or confused and disoriented in familiar environments. Normally, old memories are unaffected in these earlier stages. An affected person will recognize old friends and family, but may not have any clear memory of recent interactions with them.

Common Symptoms of Anxiety and Depression

So many individuals suffer from anxiety and depression for reasons they may not even know. I take a gander at our youth and wonder what happened. How can so many teens suffer from bouts of anxiety and depression? I don't recall experiencing this affliction as a child or teenager. Regardless of the influence or cause, anxiety and depression are dilemmas that must be dealt with.
Do you know someone who suffers from anxiety and depression? This is no laughing matter; nor is it anything to be ashamed of. However, it is a problem that should be dealt with accordingly. I must admit that I am shocked at all the anxiety and depression troubling teenagers in this modern world. What do they have to be down about? Well, this is of course considering they have a decent home life and the necessities. I can remember back when I was a child and it was playtime 24/7. I didn't need anyone but me and my imagination. The sky was the limit for fun and excitement.

Benefits of Antioxidant Vitamins

The benefits of antioxidant vitamins are very difficult to prove and to date there is no hard evidence that exists. Most studies on the benefits of antioxidant vitamins rely on people self-reporting their own dietary habits.

This makes such surveys not that reliable and what’s more, reflects only short-term eating habits. Other studies on the benefits of antioxidant vitamins are done in laboratories on animals or blood samples. Thus, the results of these studies may not necessarily reflect the true effects of antioxidant vitamins on humans.

Still, no matter how flimsy the evidence may seem as to the benefits of antioxidant vitamins, there is nothing wrong with continuing to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Various studies have shown that where the benefits of antioxidant vitamins are not manifest in supplements, they surely are when it comes to a natural diet of fresh produce.

The benefits of antioxidant vitamins include neutralizing free radicals. These free radicals are responsible for many degenerative diseases and disorders, not least of which is various types of cancer. The neutralizing effect and benefits of antioxidant vitamins also help boost the body’s immune system, thereby reducing the likelihood of developing cancer.

Deficiencies in the benefits of antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamins A, C, E, and beta-carotene have been linked to heart disease. All of these nutrients exhibit the benefits of antioxidant vitamins and other such properties that have positive effects on the heart.

Boosting Your Metabolism

In the quest to lose weight, you may think of eating right and exercising. These are the two most important things to do. If you go about this in the right way, these things will work together in boosting your metabolism. When this happens, you will burn more fat, and your energy levels will rise.

For those who have a lot of weight to lose, boosting your metabolism can be achieved by taking a short walk each day. If you have been highly immobile do to injury or poor exercise habits, start out with just ten or fifteen minutes of walking. This is a great first step towards boosting your metabolism. As you begin to lose weight, you will have to do a bit more. Add some time to your walks, and consider adding some aerobic activity to your day at least three days a week. This will further boost your metabolism and keep the weight coming off.

For those who only have a relatively low number of pounds to lose, boosting your metabolism will be harder to do, but it is possible. You will have to exercise enough to get your heart rate elevated for more than ten minutes. Eating smaller meals throughout the day instead of just three larger meals can also help in boosting your metabolism.

The thought is that your metabolism is raised whenever your body is digesting food. If you eat smaller, more frequent meals, you can keep your metabolism running at a higher rate.

Lifting weights will help in boosting your metabolism whether you are male or female. Women often skip this because they fear their muscles will get too big and they will look bulky. This is not the case, however, as male and female bodies are different. Men bulk up while women remain lean.

There are times when people turn to supplements that are made specifically for boosting your metabolism. Be very careful with this, and talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise, eating plan, or supplement. There may be repercussions to your health that you have not considered.

Information On HIV

We live in a dangerous time. Although we have come along way since the days of medieval weapons and torture, we now have to grapple with invisible death. Diseases of infinite titles have rocked our world, and it always seems to be getting worse.

Scientists work relentlessly to discover new and improved treatments and cures for the various afflictions, but we can never seem to catch up. One of the worst, in fact probably the king of diseases that we struggle with today is AIDS. This deadly virus invades the body in the form of HIV, but as time progresses, it eventually develops into the sickness known as AIDS. All human beings must acquire HIV information in some way in order to better prevent this epidemic from spreading.

These days our schools teach us the horrors of AIDS. HIV information is provided to us by the time we reach high school. While many teens may interpret this spiel as a warning not to have premarital sex, it really concerns staying alive more than anything. We all want our children to know and understand the dangers of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Some of the best HIV information I was given as a teen concerned the way it is contracted. HIV is typically transmitted through unprotected sex, mother to child during pregnancy, intravenous drug use, and breast feeding. These are the most common ways to contract HIV, period. As many already know, the most common is sex. Too many ignorant people of all ages participate in unprotected sex. This is rather bizarre considering how easy it is to put on a condom.

Taking Headache Medicine

For years and years, my brother suffered from unexplained headaches. As time went on, they got worse and worse, and other symptoms began to appear. He began to have blackouts, and at times, lost control of his body.

When this happened, he would often fall and get hurt. This was very frightening for him, and for all of us, as he was young and otherwise extremely healthy. He tried every headache medicine known to man, and still the problem remained.

His doctors exhausted their options, and he had tried not only every headache medicine you can buy over the counter, he also tried every prescription there was. He was put through exhaustive testing, and they still could not find what was wrong with him. His monthly cost for headache medicine was very high, and most of them only dulled the pain, none took the headaches away completely.

Today, his headaches are infrequent, and he spends far less on headache medicine than he did five years ago. One doctor finally found the problem, and we couldn’t believe it had been missed for as long as it was. As it turned out, his headaches were caused by mangled sinuses.

He went in for surgery, and while they could not exactly fix them, they drained everything that had been caught within, and his headaches went away for a short time. Because they could not fix the problem, he still has to spend money on headache medicine. He has to go back every few years for the same surgery when the pain becomes too much to bear.

Migraine headaches tend to the worst type of headache. These are often accompanied by upset stomach, and sensitivity to light and sound. Migraines can last for days on end, and a lot of common headache cures won’t help.

They may take the edge off the pain, but the migraine is still there. For headache cures relating to migraines, you can try over the counter migraine medications. These work well for some people, while others feel no effect. If you have tried these headache cures and they have failed, visit your doctor. You may be a good candidate for prescription migraine medication.

When your headache is not a migraine, you have to search for the source. Tension headaches are quite common, and can be felt not only in the head, but in the neck and shoulders as well. Headache cures for this type of headache range from medications to message. Staring at your computer all day can give you eyestrain.

This eyestrain will then contribute to a pounding headache. You can take medications for this, or can try a more natural remedy to get rid of this type. Prevention is the best remedy available. Make sure you eye prescription is up to date, always wear your corrective lenses, and take a break from staring at your computer monitor at least every ten minutes.

For headaches of unknown origin, pain relievers often help. You can help eliminate sources of stress and bad habits like smoking or drinking. Natural headache cures often work better if you know the root of the problem. Rest is often a good one, along with cutting back on caffeine and sugar. Simple headache cures often will not help raging and reoccurring headaches that don’t have an obvious cause. This is when you might want to see a doctor to discuss your pain. There are times when severe headaches (that are not migraines) can signify a medical problem.
