We live in a dangerous time. Although we have come along way since the days of medieval weapons and torture, we now have to grapple with invisible death. Diseases of infinite titles have rocked our world, and it always seems to be getting worse.
Scientists work relentlessly to discover new and improved treatments and cures for the various afflictions, but we can never seem to catch up. One of the worst, in fact probably the king of diseases that we struggle with today is AIDS. This deadly virus invades the body in the form of HIV, but as time progresses, it eventually develops into the sickness known as AIDS. All human beings must acquire HIV information in some way in order to better prevent this epidemic from spreading.
These days our schools teach us the horrors of AIDS. HIV information is provided to us by the time we reach high school. While many teens may interpret this spiel as a warning not to have premarital sex, it really concerns staying alive more than anything. We all want our children to know and understand the dangers of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
Some of the best HIV information I was given as a teen concerned the way it is contracted. HIV is typically transmitted through unprotected sex, mother to child during pregnancy, intravenous drug use, and breast feeding. These are the most common ways to contract HIV, period. As many already know, the most common is sex. Too many ignorant people of all ages participate in unprotected sex. This is rather bizarre considering how easy it is to put on a condom.
